It occurs to me that I neglected to mention here on the blog that my article “The Rise of Modern Horror Fiction” appeared in Cemetery Dance #73. So, yeah, it did, and here’s the link for those interested in checking it out. I’m pretty happy with the way it turned out. I agonized over the language for weeks trying to get it right. If I read it again today, I’d no doubt see room for improvement, but such is the bane of the writer that he or she must rest assured the work as it appears in print was the best they could do at the time and let it ride.
All told, I strove to formulate a compelling thesis. I’ve received a couple of notes from folks who said they enjoyed the article and found it interesting and informative. Hey, that’s the goal, so cool. I am, of course, very grateful to the folks at Cemetery Dance for the opportunity to have another piece appear in the magazine. Most importantly, Peter Straub, Ramsey Campbell, and Robert Weinberg were gracious gentlemen with whom it was a distinct pleasure to correspond on this subject.
I hope the reading public enjoys the missive. It was lots of work, but a true labor of love.
